The Master’s Message –August 2009
Brethren,
Let me begin by commending our Junior Past Master Jody Stoup on an outstanding year. We once again qualified for the Vanguard Award. Jody did an outstanding job leading the Lodge.
I would like to say how humbled I am being elected as Master of the Lodge. We have a number of outstanding active members in this lodge.
Before our August Stated Meeting we will have a courtesy presentation of a 50 year Masonic pin for the Grand Lodge of Kansas. The presentation will be by our DDGM, Rite Worshipful Bob Umphress, and will be open for all family and non Masonic friends.
We continue to participate in several community based activities such as the Adopt a Highway program, Meet the Troops, and supporting education with our scholarship program.
Our program currently awards two $1000 scholarships to two worthy seniors from Hillcrest High School. In order to cover the cost of these scholarships, we are currently holding a raffle for a new Benelli Vinci Advantage Max 4 HD Camouflage shotgun. We will be sending each member 18 raffle tickets, and stamped return envelopes. If you happen to sell those and need more, just let us know by calling the Trestleboard at 214-748-4582.
Soon we will be scheduling a meeting in which we will present the Golden Trowel award to one of our Past Masters Mac Norrell. Brother Norrell is a very worthy recipient. Brother Norrell served as Worshipful Master in 2003-2004. He is still active in this Lodge and can be called upon at any time to confer degrees or give the lectures if needed. We are truly fortunate to have him as a member of Sam P. Cochran.
Brethren, we must remember, we are only as strong as our members. If you have not been at Lodge in awhile, please come visit. We have many new Mason’s who would benefit from the knowledge some of our more seasoned Masons could offer.
I look forward to a great year. Remember, this is your Lodge.
Look forward to seeing you on the level and by the square!
With Kindest Fraternal Regards,
Larry Joe Jones
